This gory prequel is loosely based on the case of the DeFeo murders, which took place in the famed house in Ocean Avenue before the Lutz’s, whose tale was told in The Amityville Horror, moved in. When The Montellis, an Italian-American family, move into the not-yet notorious home, it’s not long before rebellious teenage son Sonny takes to seducing his sister and slaughtering the entire family. Investigation by the authorities points to the boy’s demonic possession, which is later evidenced by a grisly EXORCIST-inspired physical transformation.
Comparing part 2 to part 1, of this series, I thought it was a little bit better. There was a mixture of good parts and bad parts, but most of the movie was good.
After the first hour into the movie, it starts to get boring. Then, towards the end, it picks back up and gets better. Most of this movie can be compared to exorcist but a little better, in my opinion.
One thing I did not like about this movie was the priest kind of sucked at his role. If it was real, the priest would have expressed himself with more energy, than how it was portrayed on here. Also, I would think if they came across someone who was possessed, they would be more scared than how it was acted on here.
Overall, I would give it 5 stars but it wasn’t *THAT* great. It’s more on a borderline of 4 and 4.5 stars. If you enjoyed part 1, then you will enjoy part 2, as well.
