Jennifer Hills, a novel writer, takes a retreat from the city to a charming cabin in the woods to start on her next book. But Jennifer’s presence in the small town attracts the attention of a few morally deprived locals who set out one night to teach this city girl a lesson. They break into her cabin to scare her. However, what starts out as terrifying acts of humiliation and intimidation, quickly and uncontrollably escalates into a night of physical abuse and torturous assault. But before they can kill her, Jennifer sacrifices her broken and beaten body to a raging river that washes her away.
As time passes, the men slowly stop searching for her body and try to go back to life as usual. But that isn’t about to happen. Against all odds, Jennifer Hills survived her ordeal. Now, with hell bent vengeance, Jennifer’s sole purpose is to turn the tables on these animals and to inflict upon them every horrifying and torturous moment they carried out on her… only much, much worse.
Comparing this version to the original, I thought the original was a lot more graphical and took everything I had to watch it all. This version seemed to be too watered down, for an unrated version. I would hate to sit through the rated version. It probably would have been like watching it on TV.
The only thing this version really had going for it was the revenge scenes. I thought there were 2 good death scenes, which I have never seen in any other horror movie. If they had scenes like this in another movie, I can’t recall them. They reminded me of SAW, from how graphic it was, but that’s a good thing.
Like most remakes, this one had a few changes in it, but that’s nothing new. I still wished they kept the movie the same way and just updated the graphics, but apparently, they don’t know how to do that. The only movie that kept almost everything the same from the original was the remake to Night of The Living Dead, in 1990. That’s the only remake of a movie I can ever remember seeing being just about the same as the original.
I thought all of the actors played their roles fine and didn’t notice any errors. If there was any, I can’t recall any of them that stood out.
If you are thinking about watching this movie, I would suggest watching the original version over this one. If you have already seen the original, then you’re not really missing out. It’s great to see for the revenge scenes and the updated graphics, but nothing more.
