It’s summer vacation, and freshman Lewis Thomas (Paul Walker) is ready to embark on cross-country a road trip with the girl of his dreams, Venna (Leelee Sobieski). But Lewis’ romantic plans are detoured when he stops to rescue his never-do-well older brother, Fuller (Steve Zahn). Fuller, notorious for causing trouble, goads Lewis into playing a practical joke on a lonely trucker over a CB radio. The trucker, an unseen and terrifying force known only by his handle, “Rusty Nails”, wants the last laugh and revenge.
Joy Ride was pretty decent but not all that great. It seemed a little boring to me but it’s watchable. It does feature actor Paul Walker, from Fast & Furious. He played his part well and had a few scenes where he talked like a girl, known as Candy Cane, over the CB radio, which I thought was funny to hear.
This movie was more of an action film than a horror film. There isn’t too much killing and/or scary scenes. However, there is a part where a guy’s jaw is ripped off. That’s probably as good as it got. Other than that, it’s more of a chase type movie where the truck driver is chasing after Fuller and Lewis, then later Venna.
You can probably overlook this movie because it’s nothing you’ll miss out on. If you want to watch it, you’ll still like it. So, you can take a chance on it, if you really want to see it.
