Death stalks the dreams of several young adults to claim its revenge on the killing of Freddy Krueger. Chased and chastised by this finger-bladed demon, it is the awakening of old memories and the denials of a past of retribution that spurns this hellish vision of a dreamlike state and turns death into a nightmare reality.
The only thing I actually liked about this remake was the storyline. I didn’t think any of the actors fit any of their character roles. If there was a way to find people who actually looked like the original cast members or at least find people who fit the character roles, then it would have been a lot better.
The reason why I liked the storyline was because I found it to be more entertaining, than the original. Though, without Robert Englund as Freddy, I don’t see them getting far with a remake version. The new look for Freddy seemed to be very lame, in my opinion. You can tell he was trying too hard to be just like Robert Englund, but without his looks, it’s still not the same.
The main thing I didn’t like about the storyline was how they changed Freddy Krueger from a child murderer into a child molester. I know they wanted to update it with the times, but I thought they should have kept the same background, which he was known for. That’s like remaking Texas Chainsaw and Leatherface being known for raping women.
The only decent acting I noticed was from Katie Cassidy. Everyone else didn’t seem to be too great and could have done a lot better. I thought Kyle Gallner was trying to act like the guy from Twilight. The way he talked and how his mouth looked made me feel like he thinks he’s a vampire in a TV series. The only thing he was missing was trying to bite Nancy’s neck. His slow motion swimming scene, when he was coming out of the water, made me laugh because of the look he gave.
Anyways, if you haven’t seen this movie, I wouldn’t recommend watching it. If you are a Nightmare on Elm Street fan, then you’ll probably hate it as much as most people, including myself. If you didn’t like the original Nightmare on Elm Street series, then you might like this one, since it was more entertaining and faster paced.
If it wasn’t for the storyline being decent, then I would have gave the movie a lower score. It’s why I gave it 2 stars, instead of 1 star.
