Movie Review

I wasn’t sure what to expect, from this movie, when I first saw it on Netflix. The summary to it and the cover is what really caught my eye and made me want to see how it is. After watching it, I’m glad I didn’t pass it up for another film.

The storyline starts off a little bit slow, but then kept getting better. After about 30 minutes into the movie, I found myself not wanting to look away and it kept me very interested. It’s one of those movies you don’t come across every day, which is a good thing. Also, around the 30 minute line, it feels like you’re watching “When A Stranger Calls”. Shortly after that, you finally see it’s nothing like it and just made it seem that way.

The only thing I didn’t like about this movie was probably the ending, because it leaves you hanging for a part 2. In some ways, it’s good, but I’m kind of tired of seeing all these sequels. I’m hoping this won’t be another SAW, where they make 7 or more parts to it.

If you enjoy horror films, this movie should not be overlooked. It is worth watching, but unsure about owning it. It was great to see something new or original and entertaining to be made. I guess it just takes a lot of time to find those good movies.

Movie Review

I thought this movie was decent but nothing great. It made me feel like I was watching a rip-off storyline from the movie “House on Haunted Hill”. The special effects were okay, at some scenes. The only downfall was that they used too many of them and made the movie more fake, than anything else.

As for the actors, I thought most of the cast were decent but there were a few annoying characters, such as Rez. Everyone else seemed to play their characters correctly, without a lot of errors, from what I could tell.

If you haven’t seen this movie, it’s worth watching. Though, it’s not one of those movies that you’ll end up watching again, later in the future.

Movie Review

I thought this movie was decent. Though, I was a little disappointed because I was expecting the movie to be scary or something a little different, I should say. It felt like a comedy movie mixed with a slasher film. I guess from all the funny moments it seemed to have.

The acting was pretty good and I didn’t notice any errors. There are a few good looking girls but no sex scenes, which was rare for a movie like this. So, a lot of guys will be disappointed from that.

I would only recommend this movie, if you are looking for a different type of movie to watch. We all know how seeing the same types of horror movies tend to get old, after a while, and this is one of those movies that seem to give you a break from the same old storylines and plots. It was definitely worth watching, though.

Movie Review

When I first saw this movie in the stores, I was expecting it to suck because of the title and how the cover looked. Though, after watching it, it became one of my favorite movies. I don’t know why I like this movie so much, but it’s fun to watch every now and then.

The only real problems I had with the movie was it felt more like Texas Chainsaw Massacre, excluding Leatherface, of course. The other problem I had was with the ending. It was great except how do you walk up to the side of a vehicle and not see anyone in the back? When I first watched it, I wasn’t expecting it, but then wondered why she didn’t see him. The last problem I had was the shooting scene with the deputy. I felt like it was too drawn out and took too long. If they shortened that scene some, it would have been a lot better, in my opinion.

The only huge error I noticed was with the car. If you remember, Otis broke the windshield, when he was going after the girls inside the car. When the 2 cops inspect the vehicle, the car had an untouched windshield.

As far as the acting goes, I thought Rob Zombie chose the perfect cast, for this film. I thought everyone fit their roles and played their characters perfectly. My favorite characters were probably Baby and Otis. I liked Grandpa, as well. Especially, the comedy scene he did.

Comparing this part to the sequel, which was Devil’s Rejects, I thought this one was more fun to watch. Devil’s Rejects felt more serious, than anything else, in my opinion.

If you haven’t seen this movie, it’s definitely worth watching. If you are into horror movies like Texas Chainsaw, you will enjoy this movie, also.

Movie Review

I thought this movie was pretty good. Usually, I have a hard time finding a good ghost movie, because most are either silly looking, have a bad storyline, or just horrible acting. This is one of those rare movies that seemed to have great acting with a decent storyline.

If I was to compare this movie to another film, it would probably have to be close to House on Haunted Hill (1999 version). The ghosts seemed to have the same effects, as House on Haunted Hill, but the make-up looked more zombie looking, which I thought was cool looking.

If you enjoy movies about ghosts, then you’ll enjoy this movie, as well.

House of Wax (2005)

House of Wax 2005

Movie Summary

In this remake of the classic 1953 Andre de Toth film that starred Vincent Price, horrors abound in a creepy wax museum. A group of road-tripping Florida teenagers (Elisha Cuthbert, Chad Michael Murray, Paris Hilton, Robert Ri’chard, Jared Padalecki, and Jon Abrahams) stop to camp near a small town where an abandoned wax museum draws their curiosity.

Upon exploring the scary cobwebbed space, they find that the figures are not only eerily lifelike, but that the entire museum–floor to ceiling–is actually made of wax. If that wasn’t enough to scare them, they encounter a couple of very unsettling characters who seem to be the only people around for miles. One is a blood-splattered redneck who collects roadkill, dumping the bodies of dead deer into a fetid carcass swamp. The other is Bo (Brian Van Holt), a gas station attendant who lures the kids back to his house.

Soon, through a series of stomach-turning slasher scenes featuring scissors, long knives, and even a pair of pliers, the teens get to know Bo a whole lot better. They even meet his insane brother Vincent (also played by Van Holt). Brief interludes of teen squabbling and a Hilton strip tease in red lace lingerie temporarily break the tension, but for the most part this House of Wax stays the course with shockingly gory moments that earn grosser-than-gross status. Sick predilections involving an experimental surgical station and an elaborate wax-coating machine reveal Vincent’s artistic process. But, before the bloodbath is over, more twisted secrets about Bo and Vincent bubble to the surface, resulting in a spectacular grand finale and total meltdown.

Movie Review

I honestly liked this version, of House of Wax. The updated graphics made this movie a lot more better, in my opinion. The only thing I didn’t like about this movie was the ending. I thought they could have made the ending a lot more better. Even though, it ended fine, I just thought they should have went into more details, with the last guy. It does keep the movie open for a sequel, but I doubt they’ll make one.

As for the acting, I thought everyone did a great job, with their character roles. Even Paris Hilton surprised me, by doing a great job, as Paige. Even her death scene was great and usually, I like to pick the scenes apart. As for Carly and her brother, I thought they did a great job, as well. You couldn’t really ask for a better cast, in my opinion.

If you haven’t seen this movie, I would recommend anyone who enjoys horror movies to watch this movie. If you only get into movies like Saw, you will enjoy the violence, in this movie, as well.

Movie Review

I was thinking this sequel was going to be just like the original, but instead it wasn’t. It starts off from where part one left off, which was probably the best thing going for it. After about 15-30min of the movie, you start getting the feeling of you’re watching a first person movie of The Exorcist. Then, by the end of the movie, it feels like you just watched a scene from Jason Goes To Hell.

Like most sequels, I really wished they just kept it as part one and leave your mind going, like how “The Blair Witch Project” did. I don’t think we really needed an explanation about what really happened to Angela Vidal, or so I really didn’t. I’m sure a lot of people would agree on that, as well.

I would only recommend this movie, if you really want to finish the storyline to part one. You’re not really missing much, when it comes to scare scenes. Everything is pretty much the same, as part one. They do, however, tend to overdo the sound going out.

Movie Review

The only complaint I really had, with this movie, was the ending. Other than that, I found this movie decent enough to watch. To some viewers, it might be sick, but it was kind of funny, to me.

Before I decided to watch this movie, I read a lot of complaints from reviews I found online. Most people didn’t like it, because there was no real storyline. I thought the storyline was fine, because all you are doing is watching a doctor, who was fascinated by experimenting with animals and now humans. He enjoyed playing God, basically.

The only downfall, that I noticed with the storyline, was it didn’t have anything exciting in it. The most exciting part was probably the ending, or the last 15 minutes. Other than that, it went by really slow, and you knew what was going to happen, because of the title of the movie. So, there are no big surprises.

I thought all the actors and actresses played their character roles really well. I didn’t notice too many errors. Though, I did wonder why the Japanese guy decided to pick up a piece of glass, instead of using the lamp. I guess what he did was already planned out, in his mind. I would say what it was, but I rather save it for those, who haven’t seen this movie and want to see it.

If you haven’t seen this movie, it’s good enough for a one-time viewing, but nothing more than that. You should also know that this really is not a horror movie, even if they labeled it as one. I just don’t want you to expect this movie to be scary or anything.

Movie Summary

Lucie, a 10 year old girl, is found wandering in the streets, bruised and bloodied. Unable to say who did this to her, or why, she is placed in a hospital where she meets Anna, another young girl who had been abused. Fifteen years later, with Anna’s help, Lucie sets out to get revenge on her attackers. When she believes she has found the couple who abused her, she confronts them . . . and that is when the terror truly begins.

Movie Review

At first, when I was watching Martyrs, I was thinking it was going to be somewhat like High Tension, but I was completely wrong. It was very original, in most ways, but it wasn’t, in other aspects. It’s really hard to describe it, really. It starts off as revenge and Anna has feelings for Lucie, though Lucie doesn’t feel the same, which is why I thought it was going to be like High Tension.

About half way through, you are being explained and shown the torture the people go through there. Then, by the end, you are explained what Martyrs are and why the people were being tortured. It’s probably the best way I can put it, without spoiling the movie, for anyone who hasn’t seen it.

I can probably guarantee that SAW has nothing on this movie, and this movie can probably get to most people, who aren’t into horror films hardcore. Once you get about 15 minutes into the movie, you become hooked and don’t want to stop watching or even look away.

The only real downfall this movie had was the torture scene. It was dragged out, but if they didn’t, then it would feel like you were ripped off. So, I really wouldn’t change a single thing about this movie, because every moment through the film was needed.

I really wished the very final scene was explained, because I would have loved to hear what the lady had to say. It had a very unexpected ending, if you ask me.

Anyways, if you enjoy horror movies, then you will definitely love this one. I’m starting to think everyone, outside the USA knows how to make great horror films. I love watching Japanese horror (J-Horror) and every horror movie I have scene from France was great, too. Hollywood really needs to get their act together and produce something worth watching, besides remakes and movies that are in it for your money and nothing else.

By the way, for those who don’t like subtitles, there is an English dubbed version. So, there’s no excuse to miss out on this movie.

Movie Review

Comparing this version to the original, I thought the original was a lot more graphical and took everything I had to watch it all. This version seemed to be too watered down, for an unrated version. I would hate to sit through the rated version. It probably would have been like watching it on TV.

The only thing this version really had going for it was the revenge scenes. I thought there were 2 good death scenes, which I have never seen in any other horror movie. If they had scenes like this in another movie, I can’t recall them. They reminded me of SAW, from how graphic it was, but that’s a good thing.

Like most remakes, this one had a few changes in it, but that’s nothing new. I still wished they kept the movie the same way and just updated the graphics, but apparently, they don’t know how to do that. The only movie that kept almost everything the same from the original was the remake to Night of The Living Dead, in 1990. That’s the only remake of a movie I can ever remember seeing being just about the same as the original.

I thought all of the actors played their roles fine and didn’t notice any errors. If there was any, I can’t recall any of them that stood out.

If you are thinking about watching this movie, I would suggest watching the original version over this one. If you have already seen the original, then you’re not really missing out. It’s great to see for the revenge scenes and the updated graphics, but nothing more.
