After terrifying audiences with their nerve-shredding cult hit, [REC], acclaimed filmmakers Jaume Balaguero and Paco Plaza take fear to another level with the highly anticipated screamquel to the scariest camcorder horror since Blair Witch. Only minutes have passed since the authorities lost contact with those trapped inside the virus-stricken apartment block, now completely sealed off from the outside world. Chaos reigns outside and a SWAT team, equipped with video cameras is sent in to try and control the situation. However, no one is prepared for the evil that awaits them and, once again, they must keep recording … no matter what!
I was thinking this sequel was going to be just like the original, but instead it wasn’t. It starts off from where part one left off, which was probably the best thing going for it. After about 15-30min of the movie, you start getting the feeling of you’re watching a first person movie of The Exorcist. Then, by the end of the movie, it feels like you just watched a scene from Jason Goes To Hell.
Like most sequels, I really wished they just kept it as part one and leave your mind going, like how “The Blair Witch Project” did. I don’t think we really needed an explanation about what really happened to Angela Vidal, or so I really didn’t. I’m sure a lot of people would agree on that, as well.
I would only recommend this movie, if you really want to finish the storyline to part one. You’re not really missing much, when it comes to scare scenes. Everything is pretty much the same, as part one. They do, however, tend to overdo the sound going out.
